A friend sent over this apology that he made to his church group. Check out his detailed apology (in outline form!). What do you think?
June 26, 2009
I want to apologize to everyone on this email list. I really let the ball drop (in terms of preparing for the meeting). I am committed to this and thought it might do ok without much attention to it this week. That failed. I will not let this happen again!!! I wanted to bless Mike today with the video How Great is Our God. It blessed me in the bigness of our God. I ask for grace from you as i let the ball drop. No excuses just thankfulness that i know already that you’ll all let me continue to “practice hospitality” in the future.
If I did not get your apology language here are some other sincere attempts to say I am going to do better.
Expressing regret- you guys don’t know how embarrassing it is to let the ball drop for all to see.
Accepting responsibility- I was wrong. I let it go this week.
Making restitution- I understand that what I can do to make it right is to have the house ready and have a smiling (working on this one too) face there to meet people when they come in
Genuinely repenting- Please know this is not sarcastic…this whole note is true to me. I will try not to do this again
Requesting forgiveness- Will you please accept my apology?
